President, Arab Media Forum for Environment and Development

Randa Fouad, a writer and a journalist, has over 20 years of national, regional and global experience in the field of sustainable development, awareness raising, and communication through developing and managing the implementation of information dissemination strategies, organising policy consultations, and mobilising the mass media around development issues.

She has managed the regional information component of the United Nations Development Programme-funded Urban Management Programme (UMP), one of the largest global technical assistance programmes in the urban sector. Also, as the Development Communication Advisor to Egypt's Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, she helped in establishing a development communication unit and assisted in designing the Ministry's National Environmental Information Programme in support of Egypt's National Environmental Action Plan. Ms Fouad was the force behind the establishment of media NGOs in the Arab world; spearheaded the establishment of the Arab Media Forum for Environment and Development (AMFED), a regional media forum linking these NGOs; and played a lead role in linking the forum to global media networks.
